Berkel en Rodenrijs: Really measuring and developing skills

How good are players really at dribbling, passing or scanning? And — more importantly — how do you further develop those skills in a targeted manner?

Use case

At HC Berkel and Rodenrijs, they now have a concrete answer to that. Together with X-Skills, they organized a full Hockey Skills Scan.

A tightly organized circuit of four tests that shows within 30 minutes where 15 players stand individually and as a team.

How does the scan work?

Players go through four stations in groups of 3 to 5 players. Each station measures a different hockey-specific skill, including:

✅ Dribbling
✅ Passing
✅ Carrying
✅ Scanning

Each player wears a Skills tag (bracelet) that automatically saves all results and links them to your name. Afterwards, everyone receives a personal report with scores per skill, including the benchmarks.

Coaches receive a complete team report and a leaderboard. Based on this knowledge, it is therefore clear what can be worked on in the subsequent training courses.

Why it works?!

The scan is easy, fun and extremely efficient: 15 players were tested in just 30 minutes.

Thanks to the playful design (with time pressure and scores), players train with motivation and focus — and provide maximum input. This is followed by insight into their progress and areas for improvement.

“With x-skills, I can better understand how my players/players grow on certain topics throughout the year” — Coach hc Berkel en Rodenrijs
“With x-skills, I can better develop my technique in a challenging way by, for example, breaking my personal record in exercises” — Player Berkel en Rodenrijs

What does it give?

  • An objective 0 measurement on 4 important hockey skills
  • Insight into strengths and areas of improvement
  • Personal report for each player
  • Tools for targeted technical follow-up training
  • And... above all, it's also a lot of fun!

Make your training smarter, faster, more fun.
